OPTICAL INSPECTION SYSTEMS

15 Jun. 2022

Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) is an automated visual inspection of electronic board manufacturing where a camera autonomously scans the device under test to detect both failures and quality defects.

It is commonly used in the manufacturing process because it is a non-contact testing method.

It can be used at many stages of the manufacturing process, including PCB board inspection, solder paste inspection (SPI), solder joint inspection etc…

Inspection of components

  • Presence or absence of the component
  • Component inversion
  • Component misalignment
  • Component damaged or not
  • Component in slanting position (tombstone)

Solder joint inspection

  • Absence of alloy
  • Lack or excess of alloy (bridge)

Inspection of the component up to

  • 0201 (15 µm lens)
  • 01005 (10 µm lens)

1D or 2D barcode reading
